When a private alerts Ryback to a fire, Ryback tells him to "take my pies out of the oven." The private is then shown removing pies from an oven, but the burners visible are those of a propane cooker. The US Navy does not use propane or natural-gas ovens — carrying such gas aboard a warship would be highly dangerous. All cooking in a ship's galley is carried out on electric appliances.
